Some friends and I took a trip out to Coquitlam today to take advantage of the Superstore’s tax-free sale. We weren’t looking for groceries or housewares, though, we were looking for clothes! I am a huge fan of the Superstore’s Joe line and couldn’t resist the though of picking up some trendy fall/winter wardrobe items [...]
I agree with Airdrie; Blogging every day is hard! I stayed up until the wee hours last night (5am this morning, really) working on a draft of my thesis proposal, which meant I only got 3 hours of sleep. So rather than blog anything interesting I’m going to go to bed early tonight. *yawn*
This comic speaks to me: I am definitely a shopping geek. Luckily most of my friends are not. Although I have gotten into some very infinite-loop like shopping situations myself when shopping online.
I’m used to getting referred to as “Mrs. Dans-last-name” (though the telemarketers always get an earful when they do it!), but this is a new low: Telemarketer: “Hello, is Dan there?” Me: “No, I’m sorry, he’s at school right now. I’m cheating and backdating this entry to Wednesday night. I really meant to blog last night, but I am apparently too old to go to weeknight concerts and arrive home still coherent enough to post a blog entry about it… Sondre Lerche put on an amazing concert at the Red Room in Vancouver tonight. I [...]
I’ve decided to follow Airdrie’s lead and jumpstart this nearly-dead blog by participating in National Blog Posting Month. I’ll be posting at least one entry every day in November. Starting with this entry!
At 29 I’ve finally decided to get my driver’s license. I live downtown and can walk or take transit most places so I don’t plan on buying a car anytime soon, but I’ll admit I sometimes wish I could take advantage of one of Vancouver’s Car Co-ops for a trip to Ikea. It would also [...]
I went to a bikram yoga class last night, after a long absence from bikram practice. It felt a lot harder than I remembered! Despite the unpleasantness, though, I’m going to try to go back at least once more this week. Now that we’re living downtown I can walk to one local studio – and [...]

Interruption, a hot topic in Human-Computer Interaction, is getting a lot of play in the mainstream media these days. Yesterday’s New York Times had a nice article summarizing some recent studies on interruption and multitasking. And earlier this week my father directed me towards an article from this month’s Walrus (registration required): Driven to Distraction. [...]
